Brooklyn Brewery Black Ops Barrel Aged Stout Review
Brooklyn Brewery
Brooklyn Brewery
What a monster of a beer… I love it. Pitch‑black, velvety smooth, neither too sweet nor too bitter. A proper Imperial Stout aged in Four Roses bourbon barrels — and it absolutely shows.
There’s an interesting scent in the background, something almond‑ or frangipane‑like, but I can’t quite pin it down.
It isn’t aggressively coffee‑forward like some Impy Stouts, and it has a lovely body — the kind that leaves those satisfying smear marks on the glass.
This is a very balanced (and very bourbony) heavy hitter for when you want to unwind or pair it with a bold, rich meal. Just be mindful of the can size and the ABV 😉
The price is surprisingly reasonable (around $20 for a four‑pack), but being a special edition, it’s not the easiest thing to track down. In fact, it falls squarely into what I call the ALDI category: once it’s gone, it’s gone…or you’re going to have a hard time finding one.
I’m absolutely saving my last one for a special moment.
